CWA Local 1085 Nomination Notice

 

Nominations and elections are being held for the offices of President, Executive Vice  President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer. The term of office is three (3) years. 

 

How to Nominate

 Article XIV Section 1(c) of the CWA Local 1085 Bylaws states, “Local Officers shall be nominated by petition signed and dated by not less than 5% of the members of the Local in  good standing.”

 Nomination petitions are available on the CWA Local 1085 website

 (www.cwa1085.org) or by contacting Election Chair Roshonda Williams. Nomination petitions may be submitted via e-mail to the Election Committee at [email protected] OR in person to the union hall. Nominations must be submitted no later than September 23,  2026  at 4:00 PM EDT.

After the nomination deadline, potential candidates’ nomination petitions will be reviewed and verified by the Election Chair and Election Committee. Nominees shall designate within five (5) days, in writing, their acceptance of the nomination.  There are NO other methods to nominate candidates outside of the petition.

Qualifications to Run for Union Office

 The CWA Constitution provides in Article 4, Section D that only members of the Union in good standing shall be eligible to vote or hold elective office. No elected officer of the Union or of a Local shall take office unless the elected officer is eligible under the Constitution and Federal or Provincial Law. Good standing is defined by CWA as a member no more than one month in arrears in dues payments.
